Trump Hosts Off-The-Record Luncheon For ‘Fake News’ Media for Before State of the Union

Following presidential tradition, top establishment media news members joined president Trump for an off the record luncheon hours before his State of the Union address on Tuesday.

While the president has repeatedly blasted CNN and NBC for reporting lies and propaganda, he still gives them access.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper and Wolf Blitersz, NBC’s Savannah Guthrie and Lester Holt, ABC’s George Stephanopoulos and David Muir and Fox News’s Martha MacCallum were reportedly included on the guest lists.

He makes his disdain for their biased reporting

Chuck Todd, host of NBC’s “Meet the Press” was reportedly slammed by the president during the hour-long meeting. The president told the group that Todd’s the nicest guy in the world and then becomes “a monster” when he gets on the show.

Trump also pointed out that 95 percent of the media’s coverage of his administration is negative, despite the networks profiting immensely because of his election.

The president’s off-the-record meeting with the press comes after someone leaked compromising information to the New York Times after his prime-time address in January urging Democrats to allocate $5.7 billion for his promised border wall.

Following the leak, Trump blasted the mainstream media for leaking information he conveyed off the record.

The annual White House off the record lunch with broadcast news anchors typically outlines a slated speech to anchors who are involved in coverage.

During last year’s lunch, Trump reportedly had a contentious exchanged with Lester Holt over the president’s termination of former FBI Director James Comey.  In 2017, Trump railed against news anchors for treating him unfairly.
