After liberal darling Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was booed on Thursday while she voted for Nancy Pelosi (D – CA) for Speaker, the self-described Democratic-socialist claimed Republicans heckled her because they’re jealous.
“Don’t hate me cause you ain’t me, fellas,” the New York congresswoman tweeted. “Over 200 members voted for Nancy Pelosi today, yet the GOP only booed one: me.”

The rising liberal star’s tweet was accompanied by footage showing Republicans temperately booing her. New York Time’s reporter Michael Barboro tweeted the jeering on the GOP side did not appear to be malicious.

Ocasio, a Democrat from New York who is the youngest woman to serve in Congress, announced Wednesday her plans to defy Pelosi as soon as she is sworn in as House Speaker by voting against Pelosi’s proposed “pay-go” rules package.
Under the rule, all new spending would be paid for by either increasing taxes or by budget cuts in order to prevent new spending from increasing the federal deficit.
Ocasio-Cortez slammed the Pelosi-supported pay-go principle Wednesday, arguing that it’s a “dark maneuver designed to hamstring progress on healthcare.”
Tomorrow I will also vote No on the rules package, which is trying to slip in #PAYGO.
PAYGO isn’t only bad economics, as @RoKhanna explains; it’s also a dark political maneuver designed to hamstring progress on healthcare+other leg.
We shouldn’t hinder ourselves from the start. https://t.co/WW3UaBs7vh
